Sleigh Ride......

Dashing through the snow.............

In a one horse open sleigh........

Over the fields we go...laughing all the way..........

Yes my friends that is what I did yesterday!
A dream I had always had came true.

The Indiana cousins came over, it was snowing..
So the twins and I decided to take our sleigh ride we had planned in
December we did not get to do because it was raining.

The beautiful sled was waiting for us
Meet Maxwell
The twins nephew was in town from Wisconsin with his daughter
so they were able to go with us. Carrots in hand to feed Maxwell

And we must not forget sweet Molly, Maxwell's friend
Now Dash Away...........

hot cocoa and homemade cookies for those waiting to go
now it is our turn!
All bundled up, I had on a sweater, sweatshirt and my coat to stay warm

A dream I have had since I was a little girl
Even better...
the owners lived just north of where my Grandmother
was born in the country
and 100 years before in the same spot there was snow too!
Wished that old barn of my Great Grandparents would of been there still
as we passed by

Thank you to our hosts and Molly

Here is hoping your dreams come true as we head
towards 2013

Happy New Year
my dear friends!

Ann

What could be more in the season spirit. I enjoy the way you document, with photographs, different locations now and "way back" then. I love old family photographs, mine and everyone else's.

Have a Happy New Year!

What a beautiful post and yes very "sentimental" too! I never had a sleigh ride, not even in NY, except for our little kids sleds my bro and I used to ride the hill in front of our home in the winter..such fun though. What a wonderful dream come true!

I once rode in a two horse open sleigh and it was indeed delightful!

That looks like a fun ride! I always wondered how horses kept from slipping on snow and ice though... It's like that need thick treads or spikes on their horseshoes. :-)

I think that must be everyone's idea of a favorite snow activity, even us here in Georgia where we almost never have snow! How wonderful that this lifelong dream came true. I really enjoyed the pictures of your grandfather's barn. I have one tiny picture of my great-grandfather's corn mill. I had to laugh at sweet Molly laying in the snow! She's a beauty!

What a great story and the perfect way to start 2013! I'm sure many more of your dreams wll come true this year! I've always wanted to ride in the snow with a horse drawn carriage. The green velvet seats looks comfy too. I gasped when I saw your backyard. I stopped your blog a long time ago and just realized I need to become a frequent visitor so I'm a new follower. Your hosts are so nice to provide a warm place to wait while serving hot beverages and Molly is beautiful.
