The Serenity of a Beautiful Fall Day

Cool, beautiful blue sky
The recipe for a serene day.
I decided to take my lunch to a place that has great meaning to me,
Fox Ridge State Park
half way between the town I was born in and the town I grew up in.
This is "my" spot. When I was little this is where I always wanted
to have our family picnics at.

Looks like it someone elses favorite spot too!

I was so relaxed and at peace
I felt like singing
"Nearer, My God, to Thee"
some trees had gorgeous colors
the orange/red of sugar maples are my favorite

the beautiful pavilion built in the 1930's by the WPA
There is numerous trails, I have been on everyone as a child.
I had my 10th birthday party here.

The ballpark...what wonderful memories it holds.
We had a family reunion here once and played
baseball. Remember cousin Tom was there and
my Uncle Don pitched. Recently I found the ball
we used and we all signed it, what a treasure!

when you head out of the park and go north
this is what you see
the famous round barn on a beautiful farm

Did I mention the farm is my cousins?
They have been wanting me to stop to see some of my
family heirlooms.

My Great Great Grandmother's
transfer ware soup tureen.
smartly she has written the family history
Emma was my Great Grandmother and Fred was his Grandfather.

And....my Maternal Great Great Grandmother's Pie Safe.
I remember my Dad's father talking about what a great
cook she was and she was famous for her pies.
Now I know where they cooled.

There farm is well known in the area for the
Round Barn
When I posted the picture on FB, everyone was saying
"your cousin lives there?"
They often have people pull up and take pictures.
Years ago they use to have a Fall craft show.

Yesterday the twins and I went driving around
in the country.
Could not believe one of them had never
been to "airtight bridge"
Iron bridge with still a wooden floor
This is in the area where my family is from.
Both my Mom and Dad's
My Dad use to go hunting here.

Today my cousin and her granddaughter are coming.

Next I need to show you what I got at the auction!!
that is for tomorrow.
