Vintage Thingie Thursday

I'm on vacation and the weather is beautiful out....BUT I find myself trying to achieve a goal of cleaning out the closets in my bedrooms. Today I was going through my cedar chest, and found a afghan I forgot I had or never really payed attention to. It belonged to my Grandmother, I am sure one of her Eastern Star friends made it for her.

Because of reading all your blogs, it is making me look at my things in a different light. From the colors I thought.........."this will good in the living room for Fall".

So let me know what you think. I am sure it is about 40 yrs old.
Here is the before picture. My husbands rocking chair he got from a fire station years ago. The pillow on the right was made by my mom.

Here it is, kind of funky colors but it works for Fall!

Close up of the detail work.

Heres the after......out to enjoy after being in the cedar chest for 15 years!

Linking up with ColoradoLady for Vintage Thingie Thursday. Hope you discover an old treasuer in your house!

My grandma, who lived in Charleston, made one like this in greens about 20-25 years ago. Hers came in a kit with all the yarn and directions. I think she might have bought the kit at Ben Franklin.
Yours looks great for fall.

Oh absolutely! It's perfect for fall- you'll appreciate it all the more on a chilly, rainy day- when you can grab it and snuggle up in it to keep cozy and warm! Happy VTT!

That afghan looks great for fall, especially on your chair. I keep seeing granny square afghans at thrift shops, but they all have colors I couldn't live with now.

The afghan is so pretty...I love the colors. I’m a knitter, spinner, and quilter, but NOT a crocheter. I cannot hold the hook worth a hoot. Our home is full of them, but they were all made by my better half’s mother and sister...NOT by his wife. The little pillow your mother made is precious and a real treasure. I know you love it. Your husband’s rocker is the perfect spot to show it off.

I have several afghans but never saw the pattern like yours. You should get it out and place it where you can see it. She would be proud for you to display it.

I love your little vintage afghan!! It is wonderful for it to be out after all these years to be enjoyed and seen by ALL! :)

I agree that once I got a blog and starting looking at the others, all the sudden you look at your old treasures differently! :)
