Forgotten Tea

I am back at 1515 for a weekend all by myself, no cousins here, no husband no pets. So I am trying to do some spring cleaning and get ready for some guests that are coming in March from Colorado.
While I was in the master bedroom, I looked under the aluminum tree and realized I had forgotten about something................

A very old Christmas box. While I was home for a couple of weekends in November shopping I bought this for myself, I could not resist. No it is not just the box..........

4 very delicate tea cups and a compote dish wrapped in post WWI paper

love the detail and how delicate they are.

Its English china, I will have to do some research and see the age of these.

But I can't help but wonder who was the person that wrapped them in the post WWI newspaper so many years ago.

Good Morning Ann Sweetie...
Oh how beautiful these cups are. I so love the little handles. I tell you these flowers are so beautiful they just pop right off the teacups. And then you even have the compote dish as well.

Oh I can't wait until you find all the information there is out there about these beautiful cups of love. A treasure and keepsake to pass on in the family.

I hope you have a beautiful Sunday sweetie. Many hugs and SO much love, Sherry

Those are such pretty teacups! I love the color yellow. I recently bought a framed picture at an antique mall and found 1913 sheets of newspaper behind it. It is the real estate section. The prices were amazing. What a wonderful treasure you have.

Hi Ann,
what a fun to find those cups again. Like having two times Christmas. But they are truly a treasure. They look so tender and charming.Don't you think they as old as the newspaper? May be someone wrapped them after WWI and stored them. Later they got inherited but not wanted. So may be you got them originally wrapped. There is a secret with them. The where meant to you!
Greetings Johanna

Oh, what delightful treasures, Ann! The teacups are very delicate looking and I would imagine they are lovely to sip tea from. The newspaper itself would be a wonderful find! Thank you for sharing a lovely post. It's a pleasure to have you join me for tea.

Blessings,
Sandi

I 'found' your blog from a comment left on Shirley's World.
Your Hammersley cups and saucers are really delicate and beautiful. I have checked up the registration year for you (though this only indicates the year the design was registered and not neccesarily produced).
1890 commenced with number 140,481
1891 commenced with number 160,613 - and so I can deduce your delightful cups pattern was registered in 1890!
Hope that helps :o)

Oh my, that must have been like opening a time capsule! How delightful! The tea cups and saucer are totally beautiful! I love yellow in a tea cup, and your dainty cups are precious!
Hammersley is a fine company. I am interested to know when they were made....at least you know pre WWI for sure.
Thank you so much for sharing these with us.
Hugs,
Terri

Ann, what lovely treasures! The cups/saucers are perfect (yellow is so sunny - and it's another dreary day here, so I could use some sun right now, and the box and vintage newsprint - perfect.

Thank you for sharing these, and have a happy day,
Marianne
