Pyrex Cats and Reunions

Next week I am going to 1515 for our Galbreath Mitchell Reunion!

Yes 110 years.
I work hard ever year finding more descendants to keep it going.

Another reason I want to get home is see what I won at the auction!
I was in town and bid on these so I need to get back to get them.
I caught the box out of the corner of my eye, it said Pyrex!
I researched the box and figured out what it might be and YES
Golden Poinsetta, in original box, with holder and never used!
$25!

Also 2 pieces of American Fostoria
3 legged platter $6
Smaller cake stand

Are  you wondering how the boys are?
Busy
They went to their first Vet visit and they both purred the entire time, even when they got their shots.
So they went with us to 1515 for the 4th. They were so good.
Jasper

Pounce
Came home to find them sleeping together

I think they like Daddy

I will be away from them all and of course
Greta too

But so looking forward to it!
Wednesday we are going to our family church and will be scanning the church records that go back to the 1840's. I want to help them get something together for the 100th Anniversary of the new churh which will be in 2017.
Thursday, meeting cousin Marty in Greenup for lunch, shopping and peaches at the Orchard
Friday, cleaning then dinner with those who have come into town at the local Rib place
Saturday, Genealogy Workshop and rededication of our family cemetery. And of course family picnic at 1515.
Sunday, 110th Reunion, wondering if anyone else has been going longer in the state if Illinois?

Some years we struggle but this year I have 37 confirmed for the Reunion.
In 1952 I found where they only had 30, so I guess we are doing ok.

1910
Our table will not be that full
but we will be blessed to be together once again.
My Grandmother looks so pretty, the young lady in front on the right.
I am sure she will be happy.
My genealogy role model Aunt Annie, her sister is just behind her on the rt.
I know she is happy that what she started in 1906 is still going strong!

Have a great week!
Ann

Jasper and Pounce

We usually share our lives up and downs on our blogs.
One I did not share because my heart was broken was my Boots passed away in November.
I was devastated, how could I not be.....
He slept with me every night on my pillow holding my hand and always greeted me when I came home from work with a kiss. 15 wonderful years.

But then I saw this on my friends blog

a little homeless kitten brought to her to bottle feed.
I adopted him the minute I saw the picture.
He was still too young for me to get so I had to wait.
The same time Tete got him one of her foster cats had kittens.

About 2 weeks ago she posted this picture.
She asked on FB if away was interested in adopting him.
He was the last from the liter...........no takers.
How could you not fall in love with THAT face!?
Yep, I said he can come home with Jasper.
If you have followed me, you may remember I had 2 cats, Boots and Pinky.

So last Saturday I got the privilege of finally meeting Tete in person, her family, her furry family and touring her beautiful yard.
Jasper and Pounce came back to 1515 with me.
They were so good.

used the liter box and ate right away.

they played and explored

then much to my happiness they both jumped in my lap and took a nap.
True bliss for me.

I can see Jasper is going to help with my blog posts!

never heard a peep out of the all night.
But finally it was Pounce getting me up, Come on Mom!

Jasper pretty much hangs out where every I am

Only with me 24 hrs but seem happy,,,,and relaxed!

Then it was time to load up to take them home
They slept the entire 2 hours, not saying a word.
We showed them to Greta who barked, and Jasper growled and Pounce was shaking.
Oh no! It is going to take time, Greta is much bigger than Tete's puppy.
Greta and Boots were great buddies and these guys will at some point to.

So for now they are in the guest room

playing and exploring

My neighbor and dog sitter has been checking on them while I am at work.
She is a cat person and her last cat just died, I thought maybe she would want Pounce but now I am glad she wasn't  ready.

they are just adorable.
Pounce I think has the perfect name, he is always Pouncing.
I let them out today and he was so funny going down the stairs, but brave.
He is going to be the Alpha I think, we shall see
Jasper I think is my lap cat.
Tete did such a good job with them You can even hold them and tell them to go to sleep and they will.
I was just holding Jasper and Pounce got jealous.
Oh how I love it.

Welcome home to Jasper and Pounce!!!!

Blue Lusterware Tea Set.........and a Interesting Week

As the basement clean out begins I told you I found my Grandmother's Blue Lusterware Tea Set.
Along with some other lost treasures that have been packed away since my Mom died in 2002.
I can just hunt thought my basement for fun instead of going antiquing!
a wedding present of a blue Fenton candy dish and a opaque milk glass plate that was also Grandma's.

just one large plate
I can remember Mom would have it on her hutch

since I did not have anything on the buffet I put the set and plate there for January
The set has 6 cups/saucers, desert plates, creamer, sugar and the teapot.
All in good shape.
I wonder when she bought them? I do remember them on the shelf above the stove in the kitchen.
We would use the teapot from time to time when Grandma and I would have tea,

So far now they are on the buffet

Now for my week........and I have said this before here
I HATE JANUARY
It is always a traumatic month for me
My Dad died in January
Other traumas I don't want to bring up happened in January and you may remember 3 years the water mains broke at home and 1515 the same week. What is the odds of that?

So last Saturday Mr. calls me "I was in a accident" He was ok thank god and that is what is so important.
On one Stan Musial Bridge, a lost U-Haul change lanes and slammed into the Aspen
How he drove home on this I do not know!

Tuesday we had to put our precious Shadow who lives at the business to sleep.
Mr's constant companion, they spent more time together over the last 15 years than we have.
I named him Shadow because from the minute he showed up as a little puppy at the front gate, he followed Bob everywhere. My heart hurts for my sweet husband.
The same day my distant cousin whom I worked on the Charleston Riot with lost her mother.

Thursday as I was getting ready to head off to 1515 I got a call the water line had broken there and the city had turned off the water.
Thursday I still couldn't find a plumber...they all were busy so I spent the night with the twins.
Friday finally a plumber and only $169. The access panel had blown open and the cold air had gotten under the house.
My luck is turning?
NO
My cousins both got ill and could not make the weekend at 1515.
Friday I went to the funeral and out with friends for dinner.
Well, I did not get out of bed until Sunday about 11am.
I was at the porcelain throne. I have not been sick like that in years.
The twins and Fred brought care packages and all I could think after 36 hours in bed was thank goodness no one was there.
Yesterday I finally ate something for the first time since Friday and drove myself back home.
I guess Christmas will still be up at 1515 in February!

Hard to believe but the Aspen was fixed already! Thanks State Farm for saying Mr should not drive it and got it fixed before they even got the police report to prove we were not to blame.

And sweet Mr. had made me homemade Chicken Noodle Soup
and Boots couldn't wait to get on my lap.

Pray I make it through January without any more catastrophes.

Please Meet Greta!

First I want to say THANK YOU, to all my blogging friends for your love and support over the last couple of weeks. Losing my cousin and Heidi within 3 days was traumatic.

So let us move on to a new chapter in our lives!

Please meet Greta!

That is what we have named her. 2 days after we lost Heidi, my friend was at the dentist office and the dental hygienist asked if there was anyone she knew who might want a German Shepard?
I had alot of questions.
was it a girl?
how old was she?
was she housebroken?
was she ok around cats?
The answer was yes to everything.
She was found wandering on a road and a kind family with 3 kids and 2 dogs took her in, but had been looking for a home for her.
We meet them today, Mr., my neighbor and dog sitter went to a park.
It was love at first sight.....she walked up to Mr and planted a wet kiss right on his face. That was at 3:30, by 4pm Mr. had her packed up in the Aspen ready to go home.

She has met all the neighbors, my brother came over.....they all agree, she is a keeper!

I am just grateful that we were so lucky, because my heart was broken when I lost my Heidi girl, but I think it is healing..........

Heidi

Heidi, better known as "Heidi Girl" "Heidi Ho" "Xena Princess Warrior" depending on if I, my husband or her dog sitter Jackie is calling her.
About this time, Heidi is having a "growth " taken off her foot. Needless to say her Daddy and I are very nervous because she is a wonderful baby girl.

The Heidi story started the day we had to put our other German Shepard Sasha to sleep. My brother went with my husband to the vet.....I am a nurse but I just could not go. Instead I had spent the morning on the floor holding her in my arms before they left.

My husband went on to work and my brother came back to check on me. He decided to get me out of the house.....so we went to Petsmart to get some carpet cleaner for pet problems. I was relcutant to leave, my mother was in our spare bedroom recovering from gallbladder surgery. As we walked in the automatic doors to the place opened ...........and there in the middle of the entrance THERE SHE WAS! A beautiful 1 yr old female German Shepard looking for a home. How could I even think of doing this? I called my husband crying the entire time....."bring her home" he said. So we did! I am sure the people there thought I was crazy, while I was signing the adoption papers I was crying.

She did great on the ride home. When we got inside, I let her loose and she immediatley ran upstairs and jumped in bed with my mother!! Now she thought ........what on earth!

That night when my husband got home, he knelt down to introduce himself to her and she planted a great big kiss on him!! He smiled "oh, did I need that". She has always been unpredictable in humorous ways.

She loves the snow, hates the heat. Hates to wear the scarfs my mom made for her. Loves her treats. Hates the squirrels and groundhogs. Loves to go for walks and is so happy our neighboor does that everyday with her. Loves to chase the cats. Loves company and children.

I can't imagine my life without her.....so I thought Heidi story was worthing telling. Hopefully tommorrow when she comes home, she will be ok. Her dog sitter is bring her home and said " I am staying with her till you get home". She kinda has a way of making you fall in love with her.
