Just A Fall Day

Now that the weather is cooler,
I want to bake. I have some bananas just ready for banana bread.
it doesn't help that I burn a Pumpkin scented candle that makes me hungry!

While I was on vacation I decided to make a quiche
I am not good at following a recipe, I kinda modify it to what I have.
Sauteed a onion in some butter, add some cooked chopped ham.
Just enough to cover the bottom of a deep dish pie shell.

added 1 cup of Swiss cheese or I made one the other day with asiago cheese.

whipped one cup of milk with some worcestershire sauce mixed in, I realized I should of added some rosemary or marjoram.

yummy after 40 minutes in the oven at 350

I thought ...make is special for lunch
I decided to use my Grandmothers everyday dishes.
A romaine salad with swiss cheese, croutons and balsamic vinegrette dressing

turned out light and fluffy, sometimes a tea rooms the quiche is so dense.

It was nice enough to eat on the porch
I love this time of year.

But by next weekend.......
a cousins weekend and we decided to put up the Christmas
tree together at 1515!
we have always done a real one.
But going to get it, putting it up and then taking it down before we leave for Christmas seems to take so much time. So I bought my first artifical tree ever!
Hope it looks ok, I just love the vintage look the best.

Have a great weekend

Ann, I couldn't believe it! I woke up this morning and had it in my mind to make a quiche! I made it and then my son said he is having lunch with us so I'm making a salad and saving the quiche for lunch. I sat down at the computer and your blog was the first one I went to! What a coincidence! I think I will try your recipe next time.

I love the memories of a real tree but when my sons grew up and it was just me and the Mr. picking out and bringing back a tree, I bought an artificial one. It looks great! You will like yours, too!

Ann, I have never made Quiche...but I have had it before and love it. I love real trees also...but with the risk of fire, I bought a fake tree. I call it my Bob Evans tree...It looks skinny and tall. I loved the chair on your porch with the Jack-o-lantern face. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

Yum indeed. I have made quiche, but it is always runny. What is it about fall that does make us want to bake? the tree looks lovely. And who will know?

I've never made a quiche. Seems like it would be too hard. But I sure do love to eat them!

That's an artificial tree? It looks SO much like a real one, and reminds me of Christmases spent at my grandparents house in the Northwoods. Grandpa would walk out into the woods and cut one down every year. And Grandma would decorate it with Shiny Brites and clip-on birds and chenille Santas. Wonderful memories!

OOh it's been ages since I had quiche! Looks so good! I always admire that you have so much history available in pictures. I love that last photo that you included here. So evocative. I love a vintage Christmas too. And we just bought our first artificial tree too. We'll see how it goes.
