Today is the Day the Tree Would Go Up....

Today is my Daddy's birthday
That was the day the Christmas tree would go up at 1515
it was always one of my Dad's birthday presents on December 19th.

This is my Dad in front of 1515 in December 1943, just before leaving
for the Pacific
I have this on the side table in his boyhood bedroom
This is the tree that year in 1943 at 1515. I can only imagine what it
was like. My poor Grandparents facing the fact their only son was
headed of to a World War.
Look at all the pretty packages wrapped in tissue paper.

This picture of Christmas dinner says it all, with candlelight
shining and the family praying

I have a tree in his room
notice the red rider bb gun in the corner....

Happy Birthday Daddy, there was a tree at 1515 for you again this year

Hi Ann! Aw...what a sweet post. Your daddy would have been smiling to see your little tree and your olden things! My daddy passed away on Dec. 13, 1997, I understand.
Blessings,
Shelia ;)

Hi! What a wonderful tribute to your dad! My dad always set up the manager first and let me set the Baby Jesus in the manager! It is a beautiful memory I can never forget. I really like your photos and all the beautiful sentiments here. Happy Christmas to you and yours!

Such a heart warming post. I think we must be cousins in spirit as my own extended family seems a lot like yours - so I LOVE ever visit I make to your blog.

Oh Ann, what a sweet post. I remember that we always put our tree up around the 15th. Sure don't wait that long anymore. Loved the old pics of your dad, the tree, and the family praying. They are priceless! The tree skirt on dads tree looks so vintage, I love it too. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

How wonderful and sentimental. what a joy to own the home where your father grew up! I can't believe you managed to do this.My brother always said he wanted to buy the house that our parents first lived in when it ever came on the market, but it never happened. How fantastic to be ale to compare photos past and present. I'm sure he's smiling down at you. Happy Holidays, Sally xxx

Happy BIrthday to your daddy Ann. You have certainly kept his memory alive with the pretty tree.
He is looking down right now and saying "that's my girl". LOVE the bb gun. We bought our boys bb guns when we lived in Wyoming. We would say "don't shoot your eye out"....
Love the black and whites, truly do.
Sending you hugs from Canada

Another wonderful post Ann! I finally made it in to Persimmon Lane and found a few pink things-really made my day! They told me your friend/relative's shop is closing-I hate to hear that. I never made it in. Hope you're enjoying the last few days before Christmas!
