Porch Painting

Saturday for Pink Saturday I posted the porch at 1515 with the primer my husband put on that was Pink. You all wanted to see the finished product, so lets join Metamorphosis Monday!

When I bought 1515 two years ago, I concentrated on updating the inside. The porch banister really needed to be painted.....what do you think?  And the floor too was showing wear.

The banister is large all the way around the porch and has always been fun to sit on

There I am with my brother and cousins in about 1965 leaning on the same banister.

My grandparents had everything painted gray but the new owners in 1978 put a stone front on the house and painted everything brown. I told my husband I felt like we were at a state park...it was that color brown.

Pre...gray porch and aluminum windows

My poor husband sanding, what a mess!

Here is the pink primer

Painted the aluminum the brown color, looks so much better.

The 1515 sign is painted and back up. As I left the house for the last time in 1978, I reached up and grabbed it as I left...so glad I did.

You can just barely make out the sign in this 1950 picture of my Grandmothers brothers.

Here it is all done, color Tile Red.  The porch swing we even sanded and put new chains up for it.
It made a huge difference to the old place. Next time I am home I will have to get the metal chairs back on it, they will look great with the new color.

Wow, lots of work, but it's looking amazing! That is so neat that you still have the address sign, and an old photo with it as well! Great job:) Oh, I've never seen pink primer before, that made me smile!!

I wish I could go back in time, and NOT listen to the "experts" who told me that I couldn't paint aluminum! The windows are the color that you painted your porch. I love that color, but ever since I was a little girl, I've dreamed of a white house with green shutters and trim. Oh well, maybe my next house!
Your porch looks fantastic! It looks like it was alot of work, but what a grand entrance it is now!

The porch looks wonderful. Doesn't it feel good to get a big job done! Especially before it's too late in the season. I'm rushing around trying to get the barn and sheds and garages organized before it's too cold! You had me going on the pink porch though!

Hey Ann,
I may be able to be open one of the two first Sunday's in October-the last two weekends I plan to go camping before I put the camper away for the winter. I've been boxing things up over there and have moved some of my items in to store for the winter-but maybe we can finally hook up and you can check things out. It will be crowded-but I'll try to have it open so we can visit a little!

Oh Ann, I really thought you might leave it PINK???
But that's me, I love anything PINK. But I do think your grandma would be looking down saying " WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY PORCH?"
Looks fantastic, and I will say it again and again. I LOVE all your vintage things. LOVE your mom's toys, and everything else you have showed us.
Happy PS
Love Claudie
