The Circle of Life

Here is a picture of my Great Grandparents
Nina and Andrew
The picture was taken on Memorial Day. Mama and Pop were headed out to their parents graves to decorate them with peonies. Mama has a large bunch in her arms to take.
In the part of the country where I live, it is tradition on Memorial Day to decorate the graves of our families by taking flowers out to them.

The "twins" are the Grandchildren of Mama and Pop. So this weekend they headed out to do the traditional thing and decorate the graves. They went to 1515 to get some of my peonies that were  blooming. First they went to cemetery where their parents are buried and where Mama's parents are buried. They said the peonies on her parents grave were blooming and beautiful so they picked some and brought peonies to Mama from her parents.

So Mama had her Mother's peonies on her grave

then

the peonies from 1515

Were place on Mama and Papa daughters grave, my Grandmother.
So how nice to know my flowers were decorating my Grandparents grave.

It was so nice for the twins to do this, since I am not home to do it myself. And it was really thoughtful to have my peonies from 1515 on my Grandparents graves.

They weren't out in the pickup truck like Mama and Papa, but I can see Susan and Sheryl with the armful of peonies..........just like their Grandmother.

Happy Memorial Day
I honor my family who served in the military, from the Revolutionary War to Desert Storm on this day.

Ahhhhhh! How absolutely sweet your share. I love the picture of them, & all those peonies. It is a tradition in our state also, but the young folks don't bother much, it is the older folks who still go visit the graves.

Love your post.

Have a fabulous week ~

What a lovely family tradition. This is my first visit to your site and I decided to take some time to browse around. I'm so glad I did that. You've created a lovely spot for your readers to visit and I really enjoyed the time I spent here. I'll definitely be back. I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary
