The Time is Here!

Never thought I would get here...
Leaving for Charleston and the Riot Commemoration
is just 5 days away!

Monday I have a radio interview

Tuesday, marking off the square for vendors

Wednesday, presentation at the middle school
and
The run through with the Homes on the House tour

this home is owned by the Historical Society and
where we will host the home owners.
It was built in 1899 by a Mitchell cousin of mine.
I promise to get pictures of the homes to share!

Thursday...not sure

Friday starts things off with a wreath laying at the marker.
We have about 10 families of descendants and I have the
Grandaughter and Grandson of 2 of the participants.
They are 90 and 95 but insist on being there.

Dear friends, wish my luck!
Luck with the weather...
Luck that the people come.......
Luck that the 2 men on the committee who have been problem children behave!

So I am off!

Lincoln Hat Contest Fun!

Well, the festivities have begun!!
Yesterday we had the Lincoln Hat Contest for local businesses
The twins and I were out voting
1st stop my friend Duska at Persimmon Lane
her husband Todd, and check out the Lincoln hat string of lights they made too!
Old Abe was chopping some wood!
all the hats have a saying
even guess the pennies!
I said
"1864"
what else would I pick!?

It was hard to take pictures of windows yesterday
Ambero Antiques
he sells our tee-shirts for us
Even Bubba got into the festivities!
priceless......

Love this theme
"a house divided"
they made a doll house out to the hat!
I about died laughing when I realized they made portraits out
of pictures from our Facebook page!
That is Randy who is running out Civil War Encampment in the picture

The Lincoln room
I got such a kick out of this

Lincoln overlooks the hat made of money, the pennies spell out
Honest Abe
This is one of the local banks
And at night it glows in the dark!

One of the insurance companies did this
Now is this for me? "Ann"
or is does it mean anniversary? Ha!

Well it was such a fun day.
I am really getting excited.....
starting to see the town involved and other people excited.

2 weeks and counting.
Thanks for not forgetting me.

By the way, the old Victorian down the street has
new windows, new roof and they are working on the porch today.

The sun in shining and I am smiling!

This and That

Missing all of you...........
has anyone missed me?

Just 26 days to go.
We had a little cousin weekend, the best news there is a house down the street from mine that we love, it has been empty for years. It was for sale recently and has been sold!
Yes!
A engineer for the city is taking the next 8 months to redo it. Should be done by my Birthday.
They already have put a new roof on.
It will be fun to watch the progress.
Do you want to watch along with me?
Then he and his wife and 3 children will move in!
I am funny about those things, it does my heart good to know a historic home like it will be again filled with love and laughter of a family.

It has so much Victorian character so much potential

The wood paneled staircase

the inside of the rounded window

not a good picture, but it even has a little balcony

I hope they keep the door, and old fashion ringer for a door bell

It was warm enough one day to walk up town.
I spent the weekend in meetings and planning
finally took some pictures at one of our meetings.
I had not taken any.
Do you see, even Abe was present!

as I left I glanced to my left. The courthouse tower always seems to be
on my mind and there it was.
We have permission as the names of those killed and wounded from the Riot
that the bell will ring once.
Will I not shed a tear when they say "Young Ewing Winkler"?

I hope the weather breaks by the end of the month.
So many won't commit to playing music or taking part in the
Civil War encampment "All depends on the weather"

So as I went towards the garage to leave
is that a Robin?

and the geese have been flying north all weekend.

We have another ice/snow storm today.
ho hum

Hope your all doing well, miss you!
