Cozy Comfort of a Quilt

When you see a old quilt don't you
want to just snuggle up with it and take a nap?
They are so soft from the years of love and wear.

I have many my family made, so there
was never any need to buy one
..............until now!

White with red embroidering
I spotted it at my favorite store in my hometown
that is now mixing in antiques.

something for every month

spring birdies
strawberry picking

days of the week

how could I not fall in love

flower sack edging
I wonder if some little ole lady I knew
when I was little made this?

It found a new home at the end of my bed at 1515
Do you have a well worn quilt you love
made by someone you love
or one that you made into a new family heirloom?

oh..it was only $24!

Ann, I do love old quilts. My aunt made many beautiful quilts, all by hand. My sister and I would pick out a pretty patch of material and say , "oh I wish I had a dress made of this" Here is the sad part , when our aunt died, her children sold all those wonderful quilts and never even told any of us cousins they were doing it.. I would have loved owning one. I find that so sad. Hope you can take a nap in yours. xoxo,Susie

Oh so pretty! The embroidery looks to be in such nice condition and it's still so white! Lucky you, the women in my family were not "sewers" of any kind, so I never had any handed down, but I know I'll find one eventually with all my thrifting. Beautiful Ann!

Your quilt is wonderful. I love the embroidered pictures on it. It's so bright and pretty. Do you have any idea how old it may be? It shows up real pretty the way you have it displayed.

Oh, I just had another thought when I re-read the other Susie's comment. That was sad that her aunt's quilts were sold. I believe that there are a lot of younger (and maybe older, too) people that don't appreciate or realize the hours that go into making quilts. My daughter is 29, and she would pass right by a handmade quilt. It's value would just not resonate with her. You got your quilt for a great price, so it worked out well in your case.

Nothing like a well worn vintage quilt, is there, Ann? Love yours! I have several that both my grandma and mom made. I'll be passing them on some day, I want to keep them in the family!

I have quite a few quilt toppers that need to be finished. There is never enough time. :)

Love the red treasure you found.

Ann, what a find! I love redwork and this is so fantastic. It does look so perfectly worn. I pinned the bird. Would love to stitch it on a pillow or maybe a towel. Thanks for sharing your new find with SYC.
hugs,
Jann

Ann,
Many of the quilts I have were stitched with love by family members!!!
However, this Spring I bought a tattered old quilt for the out~of~doors decor!!! You got the better price, dear friend! Mine was $35!!!
Love how you've placed this quilt at the end of the bed!!!
Fondly,
Pat
