Today I am joining the
Polohouse for
Collections
I must admit, I collect alot of different things.
postcards, pitchers with pink roses, pottery,
depression ware, jadeite, kitchen ware,
silver, vintage Christmas.
ohhhh...and a lot more I
will not confess to!
And so, as the New Year arrives and the Holidays
are over my mind turns to Spring.
What will my garden be like this year?
Let's go out to the cottage and
check out my Vintage Gardening Books
for inspiration.
books from the 1900's to present day
general gardening
some are newer
some came from trips overseas
Some are specific to roses, iris, hydrangeas, delphiniums
even a book on tools of the trade
stacked up on an old chippy green bench
pull up a chair
and
I will turn on the fireplace and we will do some
"spring dreaming"
Thanks for joining me to look
at my collection.

Love these books Ann. I read so many gardening books and I have a few from the 50's and 60's but none terribly old. I have that Tool Book too and really like it.
Ann!
This little garden reading nook is perfection!
I would love to come by and take a look at your vintage gardening book collection while enjoying a little fireside warmth.
I wish I could say I am dreaming about spring, but we are in fact having our first really cold and extremely windy blustery winter day here. (My fireplace is howling as I type!)
Love this room and the bead board floor and the sweet touches.
Thanks for linking up!
You are the best!

I like the idea of vintage gardening books, and you have the perfect, cozy spot to sit and read to enjoy these. I imagine there is much good information to be gleaned from the pages of these books. Love your vintage tools as well. I have a few that I still like to use.
Happy New Year! ~ Sarah
I collect gardening books too-I have tons! It sounds like a wonderful idea to sit by the fire and dream of spring!
Wonderful collection of gardening books. The graphics on those vintage spines ~ oh so pretty. I love that sweet chair and I would be thrilled to come visit you in your comfy and sweet little nook!
Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
Even though I'm not ready for Spring, I enjoyed your garden room and all of the wonderful old books. Sally
You can collect ANYTHING you want Ann. As long as it's passed down to another generation it's all good.
BTW... do you have someone that would take over 1515 at some point? Keep up the lovely tradition that you have created with your hubby? I sure hope so.
LOVE your gardening collection, but I adore the space you put them in even more.
Happy New Year day my friend.

What a perfect and cute little hide away, and your books well I just love ephemera. Enjoy a delightful read with your fabulous books in your beautiful little cottage.
You do have a great collection gardening books, so you should be well inspired to get started--planning at least. Can we start yet?
Love you room and the books stacked on the green bench. So cozy with the floral print chair to snuggle in. I was thinking I don't remember seeing many vintage gardening books in my old book hunts. Lots of cook books, but not many vintage gardening books. The Victory Garden one is especially nice. Happy New Year. Spring is on the way...eventually.

What a wonderful selection Ann, and as always so beautifully displayed and loved - hubby had a warning NOT to get me a Kindle, give me a REAL book to hold and read any day!
Best wishes

I love your little cottage. It is so cute!
Oh Ann, a bit of jealousy going on here at my house. Love your garden book collection. Gardening is my first love and I am so dreaming of Spring. Counting the days till my daffodils bloom and I can plant pots of pansies and primroses. Love your darling garden retreat.
I like your collection of gardening book. Very cool finds Ann.
What a neat collection! Your corner looks like the perfect place to curl up with a good book and to dream of spring.
Love your collection of old books, Ann. Oh, I love your vintage room, also. Anyhoo, back to the books, if I had the green thumb that you have, I would have a ton of books on gardening. I have always loved your picture of the big old tree, surrounded by all of the beautiful plants. Have a wonderful week!
I just love the old gardening/flower books, love them. Beautiful blog.

Ann, I love your collection and everything looks so cozy!
Thanks so much for your kind words, and Happy New Year!
Hopefully I'll be a better blogger in 2012!

Now that is a collection I would enjoy perusing, especially in the comfort of your cozy cottage
Happy New Year!
You have a wonderful collection, Ann! We have a few. We should add to them.
What a great collection of vintage gardening books! I see a lot of them at an auction that I attend weekly. I may just have to start my own collection. Your corner looks so cozy I could sit and browse your books for hours!
Can I live in your cottage. I just want to curl up there and read a few books. Love all the vintage planters in there also!
This is why your garden and potting shed is so beautiful! I still love your header and your gorgeous flowers; I can dream when I see this every time! Have a great and happy 2012.
Oh my gosh I love your house and collections. Paper and books pinks and greens love.
Lisa
You have some really wonderful old books! My Mom just started a pinterest board of beautiful old artsy book covers. You would probably like it.
I think we will all reach or get close to our 366 goal without too much trouble. I think our basements hold a lot more than we think. I have one blogging friend who just went around her house this month and has already come up with over 400 things and says she can come up with another 366 this year. WOW, there's an inspiration!
Your collection of vintage gardening books is just wonderful!
Love them all. Can't wait till spring. Richard from My Old Historic House
What an awesome collection!!! I'd love to visit the cottage some day! Hey-I'm coming to St. Charles on the 13th or 14th-any ideas on fun things to do-we're only going to be there overnite-but neither of us know the area.
You are the reason I can't find any of these! You bought them all! ARG! LOL
