New Shelf

At 1515 I decided it was too bare about the stove. It needed something......

I found the perfect shelf at Gramma's Place in Greenup.
Red and yellow with a great scalloped edge.

May end up changing it or adding to it. My husband was on a rare visit to 1515 for the weekend, 2 seconds after he hung it I had these things on it. He asked "how did you do that so fast? You didn't waste anytime!"
Of course not!!

Love the Speed and Whipper! Clabber girl mug because the museum is about 40 miles away in Terre Haute Indiana. The museum is interesting and they have a great place to grab lunch.

Vintage salt and pepper shakers.

The chicken salt and pepper shakers were a Christmas present.

Now I think I will add a metal tray to put behind, it would be great to put magnets on and be able to hang Grandmother's recipes from.

Attention to Detail

I am getting ready for our family reunion coming up next weekend. There is alot of preparation I need to do!
This is our 105th Galbreath reunion! This is the family of my Paternal Grandmother and my Grandmother who's home I bought 2 years ago as a weekend house for my cousins and myself.

I have been so happy that so many family members and friends have come to spend some time here.
The home will be the center of activity.
This spring my cousin brought her daughter and grandchildren for a visit. Her daughter Laura was thrilled to return to her Great Grandparents house...............but something was missing?

Where is Grandad's coin jar?

Ok Laura, there is one now in his bedroom!

You see memories are different for everyone, but I want to make sure I evoke that memory and the emotion for each person that visits 1515.

Do you remember a small thing from your Grandparents home that brings a smile to your face?

So if I am not around too much next week, you know where I am!

Pink Linen Scarf

Last spring while I was on vacation, I found a great dresser for my bedroom at 1515. I got it painted and all set up, but it was missing something?

A Pink embroidered table scarf!
Found it at Persimmon Lane, my friend Duska's shop.

It was a perfect fit and in mint condition.

love the design

Everything put back in its place

Pink soap, a gift brought back from Morocco from cousin Fred

And of course my Pink hat, looks like one my Grandmother might of worn. After all this room was her bedroom for over 30 years.

Have a wonderful Pink Saturday.

Pyrex from the Auction

Do you remember a couple of weeks ago I went to 1515 to meet a friend for a weekly auction.

I think I showed you the car
The car was packed and I spent only $32

Several times they were selling boxes for a dollar, then it got to be a entire table for $1
I could not believe it.

Here is what I got on one table or box

A assortment of Pyrex bowls, all in great condition. So I probably paid pennies for each one of them!
One has a wheat design and the green flowered one matches my set I got when I was married.
Made scrambled eggs in the blue one this weekend, so I think they will get use at 1515 for all our family
 get togethers!

Happy VTT

Lights Camera....Action!!

This is my favorite place to shop for vintage items!

It is owned by my friend Duska and her husband Todd.

Here she is at the 1515 annual Christmas Party.

Rebecca from Ella Mae's Barn Gathering/Pink Shabby World joined us too!

and together again at the shop this spring

It was Pink Saturday....can you tell?

So why the lights, camera and action!

Because Duska is the hostess of a new show about collectibles for the local PBS station WEIU!

From the station:
At WEIU, we are working on producing a new program called "Hobbies, Crafts and Collectibles". Today Duska made her debut as the host! Great job Duska and everyone who worked on this production!

Well I wish I could figure out to load the preview video, but I don't!!

But I just am so happy something so good happened to such a wonderful person!
Way to go Duska!!!

Vintage Thingie Thursday

I sometimes wonder, "will all those decorations from the bicentennial every become collectible"?

I can remember everyone decorating in a patriot theme, my Mom had pewter plates that said 1776 and one with Betsy Ross sewing the flag. I still have them in the basement somewhere?

When I went to the auction 2 weeks ago, this was in the box.

2 Vintage Hallmark block candles, from 1976. I actually think I will put them out for the holiday. They are still even in their original wrapper. They were in a box with about a dozen other things for $1 so they cost me about a dime!

Well worth it I think!

Happy VTT and Happy Independence Day!
