A Letter to Aunt Annie

Dear Aunt Annie,

I wish you were here for me to wish you a Happy Birthday.
You were born on this day, March 18, 1885.

Because of you I know so much about my family.
The tireless work you did for so many  years, to find out who we are, where we came from is used almost everyday by me.
I am so grateful to you that because of the journals you kept, I know so much about my Great Grandparents that I too refer to them as Mama and Papa. You brought them to life for me by your words, your description of their day to day life.
Since I never met your sister, my Grandmother, the words are priceless.
You seem to be able to transform me back in time.
I feel as if I am at my Great Great Great Grandmothers 90th birthday party in 1915, only because you told us the weather that day, who was there, and who made the 90 layer cake!

Cousin Fred gave me your bookcase for my birthday in October
I cherish it so and have put all your things back in it. All the journals, the letters, the bibles.
The pictures have all been scanned and put on the Internet for any descendants to see.
You would of loved the Internet to do your research.
I have met many a Mitchell and Galbreath family member through your work I try to continue on.

You would love the research days we have with our extended family before the Galbreath reunion, which is in its 105th year!
I have even scanned all the pictures you took and developed in your dark room. They are now on the Internet for all too share.
One cousin even wrote a historical book about the Mitchell's and he mentioned you in the sources, some 40 years after you left us. You would love reading about Adam Mitchell your Great Great Grandfather.

I hope today you are with Mama and Papa and all the Galbreath Clan.
If there was ever a person that brought a family together, it is you.
Your spirit and love of family lives on everyday we are at 1515.

Thank you for being such a huge part of my Sentimental Life.

Love, Ann

A beautiful sentiment Ann, and what a fantastic lady your Aunt Annie must have been to leave all that information for future generations.
I find nothing sadder than photos, diaries and family paperwork for sale in antique centres...someones heritage lost forever.
Hope you have a great week ahead.

Oh Ann, this is such a wonderful tribute to such a beautiful lady! Were you named after her? It is wonderful that she shared all the information AND that she had a listener like you! You are a VERY important link to it all being saved and pasted along now...
Happy Birthday to a Beautiful Special Lady!
Hugs,
Donna

Good Morning Ann Sweetie...
What a beautiful tribute to your loving Aunt Annie. You write so elequently of her, that I can in my mind see her. Thank you for sharing her birth day with me this morning.

I love the bookcase. How wonderful that you all still have it in your family and have kept it so beautifully. It tickles me that you have scanned and kept her journals and small treasures. I know they look gorgeous amongst that book case as well.

Have a glorious Sunday sweetie. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

What a wonderful, wonderful tribute to your Aunt. What a wonderful gift she gave all of you. I had an Aunt that did all our family history on my father's side. I can remember her writing letters and sending them all over the country and compiling the results when they came back. She then had a booklet published for every member of the family that wanted one. The funny this is, she was the Aunt that was so hard to get along with and that most of us kids avoided...and yet she completed a great labor of love for all of us. xo Diana

Were you named after her Ann? What a great lady she was for all of you. Oh! how she was be over the moon to see what the internet has to offer these days.
We share the same birthday, kind of. Mine is tomorrow. She was a strong woman and obviously very concerned about her future family to know where they came from.
Happy birthday to your sweet Aunty Annie.

Happy Birthday, Aunt Annie! What a woman! I wish I had met her. So glad she left you with so much. You are the one to carry it on and then pass it on to the next one in the family that cares as much as both of you.

Bless you Ann for doing all the scanning of the images. We cannot get a copier/scanner to work. What you have done is equally important.
