Dining Room is ready for Fall guests!

I finally finished decorating the dining room today, so I thought I would share how it looks with you.

Take a tour and see all the cherished things in this one room.

Linking up to Show off your Cottage Monday with Cielo at The House in the Roses.

Looking from the kitchen into the dining room. I love my oak Dining table, it belonged to my Paternal Grandparents. Even though I now have the home they owned, I can't bring myself to take it back to that house. It has a beautiful octagon base and seats 10 easily.

To the left is the living room. Above the tea cart is a oak cabinet my Mother had made for me by the Amish. It is so special because when she died one November, her best friend had to tell me she was having this made for me. She knew I wanted somewhere to keep my Grandmother and Great Grandmothers tea cups and cream/sugar sets. I finally picked it up in January after she died. It was a wonderful gift to have from her.

Oak buffet that I love to decorate. This one I purchased at an auction because it looks like the one my Grandparents had that my cousin now has.

In the center is some Amber glass that belonged to my mother filled with small pumpkins and gourds. The amber glass candlesticks were my Grandmothers. The pilgrims were a wedding present and I have always cherished them.

Closer look, they look kind of the something from the 1980's but I don't care, I love them and am always anxious to see them every year!

Looking from the Living Room into the Dining Room. The hutch is from my Maternal Grandparents. It is cherry, I also have the buffet to it on the opposite wall. I know some would disagree about mixing and matching the sets, but I treasure having my Grandmothers set. She LOVED her dining room and since I have all her dishes and decorations, I am proud to have them.

Here is the cherry buffet that matches the hutch.

Most of all you see belonged to my Grandmother. The tea set was her pride and joy. Many a Eastern Star tea gathering was served from them. The American Fostoria was hers also, and she always had Hershey miniatures in the candy dishes at holidays, so of course I do to! Even the silver candlesticks and candy corn candles were hers. I think you can see why I am so sentimental!

Spode Turkey plates hanging on either side of my Grandmother mirror that always hung above the buffet.

Buffet changed out and ready for Fall dining!

The chicken was my Mothers. The brown tea pot was my Grandmothers and I can still see her getting out of the cabinet to make us a pot of tea. The other items I have gathered at antique stores over the years.

Love the Turkey plate and cup and saucer I found a few years ago.

I think the plate is gorgeous, Grandmother had it in her hutch. The gravy boat I found, and we do use it on Thanksgiving.

Hutch with my Grandmothers Johnson Brother dishes.

Wall sconce

As the sun sets this evening, I can look at what I accomplished today. Just a trip around the room is a flood of memories of my 4 Grandparents and my Mother. How lucky I am that I found a beautiful home with a very large dining room to old all my memories. We continue to make new memories, my husband is one of eight and we have all his family for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. I think my Grandmother would love that!

Have a Happy Monday!!!

Your dining room is just wonderful. I can see that many hands planned this room to be what it is today. I have gathered things from my mother, my grandmother and my mother in law to make my home HOME. Sometimes I wished I had a big dining room and I am sure it would look a lot like yours.
I am so glad that my big letter name postcards have found such a lovely new owner.
I bought these in a lot and sorted and kept my family names and thought I would pass the rest on the others.
I am sure there will be more in my booth throughout the winter.
Hugs- Tete

I found your blog from "share your cottage". What a lovely dining room and I loved seeing and reading all about the treasured furniture and the china. I also have a sentimental heart. What a blessing to have family treasures. I enjoyed your post very much.
