In 1913 the family church was such
an important part of life.
It was not just meant for Sunday's,
but many other evenings were spent there.
Church plays, out of town ministers, church suppers all
brought the family into town and a 3 mile buggy or walk.
Sometimes in the snow, rain, cold, heat, but rarely did they
miss. I know this from reading my Aunt Annie's daily diaries.
The Cumberland Presbyterian Church
I have many of these cards that my Grandmother received
at church. They have little bible verses on them.
On this Sunday I thought I would share a few
May you have a blessed Sunday

Love your post and those cards are wonderful! New follower :)
Ann, thank you for sharing the cards and picture of your church. They are treasures to another time. I know people walked three miles to church back then. I admire them.
Nothing like the memories of an old country church. Hope you are having a good weekend. We are!
Oh Ann, these cards are wonderful. What a treasure and I am so glad she saved them. Sunday school was a big part of my life growing up as daily chapel was at school. I was listening to NPR yesterday and there was a program about cheating. The tester explained that even atheists cheated less when they had to swear on a Bible. This country needs a little more Sunday school and a lot less meism.

What wonderful old images here, Ann. I love the memories you have found in those writings. How wonderful that she saved them and you have them now. It was such a simpler time of life, wasn't it? Blessings and Happy Sunday to you-xo Diana

How special to have those - I love the old photo of the church. I love my computer and so many modern conveniences, but I truly miss so much of the simplicity of yesteryear, including what a big part church played in people's lives... Donna
The artwork on your bible verse cards is so sweet and nostalgic. Oh, I wish I had more writings from my ancestors. You are so lucky to have that diary.
Love the PERFECT LOVE one with the little birds.
Hello;
This is my first visit to your blog. I just love the picture you have at the top. Your flower garden is lovely. I also like the top right photo of the horse; we used to have draft horses. It's nice that you have those family keepsakes, what a treasure.
