An Election Year Again?

It is another election year again?
The older I get the more I dread them, the ads, the debates, the tearing your opponent apart.
I use to love politics in my youth. I campaigned for a State Senator, I watched the conventions with my Grandfather.
How did my enthusiasm change?

I thought for VTT I would show you how my Great Grandfather
campaigned. A good old fashioned business card

Pretty simple.............."Will Appreciate Your Support"
And...
Yes he won election and is the last Democrat ever elected to that office in the County.

I agree Ann, if I watch any news program it raises my B/P and I have to change the channel. I would much rather be in our pretty blogging world.

Ah, you reminded me. Many years ago my grandmother showed me a card similar to that one. My grandfather had run for mayor. He only got one vote - her's. Ha! Guess he didn't tear into his opponent.

Very interesting bit of history on someone that was special in your life.

Wouldn't that be wonderful to return to those days of treating your opponent and well, everybody, with common courtesy and dignity?!

What a wonderful legacy you have and this is such a loving tribute to your great grandfather.

Love "Will Appreciate Your Support".

Thanks so much for sharing this with us.

Oh, I so agree with you. I hate all the political ads on TV. It just drives me nuts. I don't think a single ad has ever influenced my voting decision, I do my own research and reading and vote that way.

Cool- I think I started getting bored with it when I realized they were all liars. So I turned my tv off, through the junk mail away.
Then, they started calling me on my phone on my time, now I dread the phone ringing around election time. Its just not fair that they can invade my space like that.

I love the old fashioned politics. I wish races were based on what a candidate wants to do in office, not what he/she thing the opponent won't.

I so agree with you girl! I hate the negative ads! What ever happened to, "If you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all"? I know they didn't have such negative ads in the early days. Almost makes me not want to vote for the person. Plus all that money. How many poor people could we feed? Fun to find out a bit of your political background. Grandfather looks grand!
Hugs,
Jann

Oh Ann, we are in for a long haul aren't we? I so agree with Olive. Blog World beats the political ads and news hands down.

I've avoided the debates. But I still keep seeing soundbites of them attacking each other. And then when they're out of the race, they're buddies again! I don't understand it!

What a great piece of memorabilia and family history to have! I could just imagine what politicians would have on their business cards today, it certainly wouldn't be thanks for the support! Have a great weekend, Nan

What a FANTASTIC card to own of your grandfathers. Love it and I'm sure it's a prized posession.

I'm with you. Election years tend to get a bit nasty. I'm always ready for the election to be over so we can all get on with it! Hope all is well with you. Have a super weekend!
