Changing Plates

I am still putting my dining room back together from Christmas.
Yes it is true, I have been lazy and busy with the water main break issues.
I had said previously that I want to "shop my home" this year, to change things around and make them feel new again.

As I was getting ready to change this out....back to the way I have had it for a very long time....

This is above my Grandmother's buffet.
Here is my Christmas plates I put out.

Now this is what I usually have up
Rose plates I had bought a store in my home town.
Pink rose plates...but maybe I am ready for a change?

Do you like this better?
I have beautiful vintage plates so I thought...why not use them?!

This is one of Grandma's plates
This plate is special to me.
My Mom always had it, and when I was little I thought how pretty it was.
I can remember that I always wanted to eat my lunch on it.
Mom let me ...and I remember eating tuna fish off of it.
Silly how are memories are, but it is one I cherish.

This a Limoges plate, my Mom got on one of our
antique shopping trips and she had it hanging in her kitchen.
This plate was always in Grandma's hutch.
She belonged to the Eastern Star and on the back it says in her writing,
"Mrs Cather wedding presents. Neoga Chapter"
I assume Mrs. Cather gave it to my Grandma as a present.
Something so special as a wedding gift that she passed on to my Grandma.

I think I like the change. More subtle colors and each one
holds a special memory.
Change can be good. Now my tuna fish plate is not longer
put away on a shelf, but now I can look at it everyday and smile.

Ann,
I adore all of your plates...but I agree...your most recent really are gorgeous! I love all things vintage and your plates with their special meanings are exquisite! I think, on occasion, you should take the plate down and eat tuna fish from it, once again! Thank you for you sweet comment and visit today! I'm visiting you from Table Top Tuesday with Marty!
Fondly,
Pat

Good Evening Ann Sweetie...
Oh how beautiful are you new plates in their place of honor with the mirror. I love how it looks. Now when you look at the plates you will think of your Grandma and your Sweet Momma, and your heart will be "happy".

I love your mirror as well. Did you make the gorgeous swag that you have over your mirror? It is DDG. Love it.

Hope you had a great Monday. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

Dear Ann
What a sweet, meaningful display to enjoy. Much better to have those delightful plates out to see and enjoy than tucked away in a cupboard...

Ann, I too love the special antique plates not only for their own beauty but for the added precious memories they bring back. You know when I had to clean out my parents home, there was one plate my younger daughter wanted more than anything. She told me she didn't care if she had anything else from Nannie and Papa if she could just have that plate, which I made sure she did receive. Later she told me that that plate was the one Nannie always gave her with her lunch on it and then Nannie would tell her about eating on herself as a little girl. Today that plate hangs in my daughter's kitchen, in a very prominent place, up high enough so it would not accidentally be broken. Kellie told me recently that every time she cooks something for her family, she feels her grandmother's love right there in the kitchen with her. So I am sure your lovely memories will wrap around your each time you look at your precious plates in their new location. Thank you for the kind words about my dad today. Blessings.

I think both collections are lovely, but I think it's so fun to change things around every now and then. I am always moving things around. The vintage plates with special memories are so sweet.

I like the variety with the new arrangement you have made. It's just a bit lighter looking, for spring time.
