Finds of the New Year

Last week I was able to get out one day and head to a local
thrift store. I had not been there in months. I did not find a thing,
however the shop next door I did!

What do you think about my $2.99 puppy?

He has the sweetest little face

I think he is a little terrier, but when I saw him it reminded me of a story.
In the 1920's my Great Grandparents send off to Ohio for an
Airedale, he was sent on the train to Illinois.
I find that fascinating for that time.

Next things was marked 1/2 off

A silver crumb catcher
The lady at the store and I tried to decide if the initial was
a "W" or a "M"
what do you think?
I am going to go with W since it is going to 1515
and that is my maiden name initial
My cousins say they remember my Grandmother having
one and using it after dinner to remove the crumbs
from her linen tablecloth. My Aunt bought me one
years ago when I got married.

Both pieces before I cleaned them up

They cleaned up a little, but for $7 I will enjoy it.
It is marked on the back.

Now here is something I did not buy
This pottery lamp, probably from the 1940's and it, including the shade
is in perfect shape
In my 20 years of collecting McCoy, USA pottery I have never seen
one like it....but see that ugly price tag? $75!!!
Unless I go back and find it 1/2 price it will be staying there!

Nice finds! I love the little dog and that crumb catcher. It's so neat that you already had one too. They both cleaned up so nicely.

Have a great day.

Your cute little doggie is just adorable, Ann! What a find! And so is the crumb catcher. I say that it looks more like a "W", which is the initial of our last name. My maiden name starts with an "M", so it would work for me either way! Hope they mark that cool lamp down for you:) I'm going thrifting tomorrow, I can hardly wait, as I've not been since before Christmas!!

Great finds. Drove around the square after dark this evening and saw the "new" antique store. Pretty from the street.

Interesting that they wanted an Airdale and on a train??? They must have had a few bucks to that then?
I have a little planter doggie too. Looks a little like yours. It doesn't match my decor here at the pink cottage. It's green and brownish. But he was cute like yours.
I couldn't tell you if that is a W or an M. I don't like catching crumbs, the dogs do, lol.

Oh, I love the crumb catcher! I have been looking for one that would fit my budget but, have had no success yet. I would have snatched that one up too! And that lamp is awesome but, the price is too scary for me! LOL Thank you for joining TTF this week! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Are you willing to reveal your sources? What's the name of the shop? I agree with you, I think that initial can be an M or a W. Cute little puppy. =)

W for me too. It is so pretty and from those days of formal dinners. The little pup is a real sweetie.

Wonder what the cups in the lamp are for? I would have never in the world, unless I won the lottery, paid $75.00 for that one. Love the doggie!

Hi Ann,
I thinks its a "W" because of the sharp points at the bottom of the letter..Yep Its a "W".
You did find some really sweet things, the little dog is adorable for sure. I love vintage shopping, but always get into trouble...LOL.
Have a sweet day and Happy New Year!
