"Think of Me"

For Vintage Thingie Thursday I am tying in with my last post. My previous post is about the books my cousin has written about my ancestor Adam Mitchell. The Battle of Guilford Court was fought on their family farm during the Revolution War. The grounds are now a National Battlefield. My cousin and I went back to the area a couple of years ago. Of course I had to go antique shopping. I found one on land that may of possibly been on my family farm. The name is Thrill of the Hunt in Greensboro NC. I loved the name and the place, even the owners cute little mother was in there folding handkerchiefs. I wanted to find something to remind me of my trip. Here is what I found.

"Think of me" cup, a centerpiece for a Valentine vignette.
To me when I look at it and read Think of Me, I think of my ancestral Grandfather Adam who fought to defend his family and country.

side view
Made in Germany....to bad it doesn't say Scotland, the ancestral home of the Mitchell's.

Think of me..........I do Adam, I do.

It's so interesting to trace your family history and especailly fun when you have a wonderful story to share. Your cup is beautiful and the story very endearing.

Dear Ann,
This cup you have I was told once they are Remembrance cups and were popular in the 1800. They are also expensive and sought after by collectors. They have some that also say 'Remember me' and 'Friendship'
So you have a prize here. It is lovely too!
(I have one little one)
Beautiful,
Shirley

Oh Ann Sweetie...
What a beautiful sentiment, and I love it. "Think of me." Kind of like saying hello each time you pass or pick it up. A warm welcome home. Love it.

A Remembrance cup, how beautiful. Memories are the best aren't they?

Thank you for sharing sweet friend. I so enjoyed seeing your treasure this evening. Have a glorious Thursday. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

What a beautiful mug, I've never seen one like it before. That is great that you have so much information about your family and heritage! How awesome! I am a bit Scottish myself, though mostly Irish!!

I loved your story. Some of my family are from Scotland also. They emigrated to Canada and were farmers; the farm is still in the family today, 140+ years later. Thanks for sharing your lovely mug.

Sweet story and a sweet cup! Your cousin's books sound interesting, I'll bet even more so for you because they are family history.

Ann,

I love the cup and the sentiment behind it. Of course, I love David's books, too. Although they're about your family, they have an appeal that goes beyond the family.
