It Felt Like a Little Bit of Spring.....and I was bad.

Yesterday the sun came out for a short time and the temperatures went to the 60's. When we went to do our Sunday shopping we wanted to get some fertilizer for the daffodils coming up. Oh, what did I see, well I will let you see.........

I love Dahlia's and that a good selection of some different colors than the ones I have. And some glads, I never pull mine up and they come back every year, but they could use some new ones to add in.

And of course my Zinnia, Cosmos and nasturtium seeds.

Why do I like Dahlia so?
Here is my yellow Dahlia blooming profusely in September

So when we got home we went to work racking some leaves, fertilizing the daffodils and putting some mulch over the top.

This is the same spot now.

Their poking their little heads up!

Mr. Sentimental at work

I think he is being watched

My chair is calling for when I can sit and listen to the birds and feel the breeze and sun on my face.

I think my all time favorite project was mounting this chippy green trellis to the porch and added hooks to display my watering cans...soon they will be up again.

My antique wire plant stand is a mess with dead plants from last year.

I want to kick up my heels, get dirty and have it look like this

Some day soon........some day soon...ahhhh

Hi

Don't uncover those plants too soon. You know we are to have snow clear through the end of march. Per farmer's almanac I hope that is upper midwest not lower midwest Illinois and Missouri.

We all have cabin fever and if you are a flower person it's really hard for us not to dig in the dirt.

Good Morning Ann! Oh it's no wonder you can't wait to get into your garden ...it's beautiful! Your home is just gorgeous too...I love Victorian houses and especially ones with wrap around porches. Seeing yours makes me miss the home we left in town...but only for a minute as I love it here in the country. Our home may not be an old Victorian but it is certainly the perfect little cottage for the two of us here in the country. Thanks for stopping by this morning and leaving a comment...yes it was a different way to pick a winner wasn't it LOL! I hope you have a wonderful day...enjoy your garden if you can.

Aren't you a bit early there? We rake ours off the first two weeks in March. Dahlias were my mom's favorite! We get ours at Eddie Beck's. Have you been there? It's on the Ashmore Road by the river. They have wonderful plants! Craig worked there 2 years! He also sells on the square at the farmer's market.
Do you use cold frames? If you don't you need to get you some!

Ann your home is so pretty! And I just love your little cottage! I can't wait for some warm weather here so we can get out to work on our garden. I see you purchased some Zinnia seeds, those are my favorites, I buy the state fair mix their the large ones.
Have a nice day!

I LOVE your home!!! and that porch is "To Die For"!!! The Victorian wire plant stand is GORGEOUS! You NEVER have to explain it's winter plumage to a fellow gardener! We ALL KNOW the look! I have had one of those on the TOP of my WISHLIST FOR-E-VER!!! Ahhh, Someday!!!
You are SO lucky to have sprouts already... I would settle for seeing the ground about now, hehe! I LOVE SEEDS, I do buy those wonderful little packets every year. I don't plant all I buy BUT it gives me such happy thoughts to just have them here on my desk...
Hugs to you,
Donna

Hey Ann...I'm a dahlia lover myself and every year I try to grow zinnias. I have not had much luck with getting them to bloom. I have followed everybody's advice but they still get leggy and the blooms are not plentiful. I keep trying though and one of these years I'll get it right!

I think we are all anxious to plant something or to see something bud! My sugar maples and red oak trees are budding which is bad. We are having warm temps in the day and now it's going to freeze again. This happened last year too and the final leafing out wasn't near as full as it should be.

I love your yard and the first thing that caught my eye were all of your water buckets! I love them ♥

I'm visiting for Porch Club...
Have a wonderful day,
Stephanie ♥

I love the line of watering cans! My husbands loves when we plant yellow flowers. We of course here get the pretty yellow daffodils too so we just love how sunny that make us feel happy spring!
