Vintage Thingie Thursday

Thought I would show you one of my 2011 projects.

These are my Grandmother and Grandfather's diaries from the 1940'1950's
Years ago we divided them up and everyone got one. Luckily everyone brought them back to 1515. They are so much fun to read. When I am home I take one of them and open it up to the date we are there. Sometimes we will do a little reading from them. I can tell you what everyone got from Christmas and from who. I can find out when things were done to the 1515, like the date they updated the electricity!

This year I am going to scan the pages and put them in a book format so all the cousins can have a copy.
They are sitting in my Grandfather and my Dad's bedroom, next to Grandad's pipe. They were probably on a bedside table in that room many many years ago....and they are back!

That is absolutely wonderful you have these dairies from your family that far back. I wish mine had done something like this. I have many questions, but no one left to answer. I am sure you will learn a lot of family history and reading enjoyment as well. Best wishes for 2011.

Ann, you have the best treasures and it's a wonderful idea to scan them and give them to everyone!
I can see this house as a museum in 75 years open to all with a big plaque with your pic and the tale of your adventures in bringing this all back together!

What a priceless heirloom to have! It's so nice that you were given them all back ... and now you can share them with everyone ... my great aunt wrote a small booklet for me about her life, which I treasure as well.
