Who Will Be Gathered Around Your Thanksgiving Day Table?

In some years past we have hosted Thanksgiving for Mr.'s family

Using my Grandmothers Johnson Brothers China, decorating the dining room.
This year we are doing something different.
I can never get my brother to come over with my husbands family.
Since it is just my brother and I, I always want to see him.
So we are going to Maggiano's in St Louis, you can check out the Thanksgiving menu.
Then later to my SIL's who hosts the opposite years from me.

We have a lot to be Thankful for this year.
My husbands business is doing much better, I actually can sleep at night without lying awake at night.
We are both healthy and happy. So are my family members.
I am thinking of those who have challenges, my friend who was just diagnosed with Breast cancer, or my friend whose husband is the last stages of ALS.

So as you gather around the table with those you love, give Thanks.
I will be remember those who are gone.

Thanksgiving 1972 My Mom, Dad, brother, both Grandfathers and My Grandmother. I wish I could go back in a time machine (and take Mr with me)
I can remember Mom cooking and it getting so warm we would have to crack the windows.
I can see her China with the turkey on it in the picture.
This year will be different, but I am still Thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving

I just want to wish all my dear friends a
Happy Thanksgiving

I hope your table will be surrounded  by those you love.

I am thankful for all the blessings I do have.

Today I am off, so I am going to make some soup and a pumpkin pie for Mr. and I
We are going to his sisters home tomorrow.
I will miss being with my family this year.

I can remember my Mom would always come to my house for Thanksgiving.
She would drive down and be here by the time I got off work.
And on Wednesday night our tradition was to put up my Grandmother's
aluminum tree in the pink bedroom.

I am thankful of my memories.....

How Was Your Thanksgiving?

Hoping all of you had a successful Thanksgiving.
Mr. and I cooked for his family today.
We had dinner at 5, so we were able to take it easy in the
morning and watch the parade and a little football.

Here is my table, not as elaborate as some, but
it is still with china and crystal.
My centerpiece was my silver compote surrounded by small candles.

I used my Grandmother's Johnson Brother plates. My Great Great
Grandparents silver I had shown you in a earlier post, I have
never used it before.

Vintage place cards

My Waterford crystal

Mixed in, a few of my Great Great Grandparents glasses
They look so colonial to me.

Great Grandmother's Ironstone gravy

My Mother's Holly Fostoria s/p shakers

Greta......eyeing this!
Cooked in my Grandmother's roaster

What if I look adorable?

Mr. very happy with how the turkey turned out in
our new oven with the "perfect turkey" feature
Well.........
yummmmmmyyyyyyyyyyyyy

A good time had by all!

My beautiful 87 year old MIL at the head of the table.
My SIL's and nieces helped clean up everything,
and I am so grateful because tomorrow it is back to work for me.

I Am So Thankful

Even though there are days I think ....."why me?" I know I have so very much to be
 Thankful for.

I am exhausted from another wild day of work, yesterday was a 15 hour day.
But I am so grateful to have a profession I chose and it has always provided
me with what I needed and more.
And I am grateful for my health that I have since I see everyday others that are not as fortunate.

I have a husband who works too much, but takes pride in his 3rd generation
business. He has accomplished so much, and keeps holding on.

For Vintage Thingie Thursday
this my Mothers piece of amber glass. In the fall I always decorate with the pieces we bought her over the years.....some at the dime store and nicer pieces like this one
this are some of the pieces, there is even a turkey and a hen and chick. The candle sticks were my Grandmothers.
I need a new 2nd furnace, new carpet, new side door....
the list never ends with a house 110 years old.
But we love our home and I am so grateful to have a roof over my
head and food in the pantry and the lights and water on.

So many sad stories these days, and I know how very fortunate I am.

Tomorrow will be spent with my husbands family coming to our home for dinner.
I am so grateful I married into such a wonderful family and still have someone
to call "Mom", my dear mother in law.

Who will be at your table, and what are you grateful for?

Happy Thanksgiving to all my wonderful friends!
