I told myself I am really decluttering this year.
Hmmm I say that every year, but no really this year I will.
I got a new sewing machine for Christmas so I told myself I am going to do the craft sewing room in the basement.
So as I am shuffling Christmas containers, I opened one heavy box.
Oh it has my David Cassidy stuff in it!
But here is the treasure I found
the sweetest handmade Valentine from my Grandma
I never knew my Grandmother who lived at 1515.
My Grandma taught me to bake, the names of flowers, my love of china, silver and entertaining. It helped I was her only Grandaughter so I had her undivided attention.
Of course I sit there and cry, but they are happy tears of all the memories.
Many memories, notes from my Mom, a photo album from High School.
Oh how can I sort all this? Seems each container is about 1/2 full.
I did part with cards from friends and extended family members.
I even found a 1/2 box with blue fenton ware and a lusterware blue tea set.
Oh my I have my work cut out!
I should take a before and after picture.
But not until AFTER I am done, you would not believe my yucky basement!
It is fun to find new/old treasures here at home.
Have you found a new/old treasure in your house lately?

As someone who misses her sweet little Grandma so very much, I think your valentine is the most beautiful and special treasure ever! I'd frame it, along with that adorable picture!
Thanks for sharing!
Erica :)
I am with Erica, you should frame the card and photo of your grandmother. What a wonderful treasure!
I know you treasure that Valentine! Every time I clean out it is like going down memory lane, which is distracting, but enjoyable. A David Cassidy box?? Oh my, we'd love to see that, lol.
Just wishing you MORE beautiful memories going through your "stuff"! You must show us more! Blessings~~~Roxie
I take that journey every now and then. I think I have most of the stuff organized now, after our move in 2009, but every now and then I stumble across a box. Our really big challenge is the barn where we have stored remnants of others' lives, departed parents mostly. I am sure that there are treasures out there. Always every year a promise we make to clean the barn. Ha. You will have a very nice sewing room when you are done.
Ann, what a sentimental adventure! I love it when I run across things that evoke precious memories. I didn't know any of my grandmothers, but I had Aunts that were like grandmas to me. I treasures things that once were theirs. Would love to see those treasured dishes you found!
hugs,
Jann
I love how the new year means renewing and what better way than to clean out and "renew" our lives. I'm doing the same. Hope you find lots more treasures with happy memories attached. I was just talking with a friend about David Cassidy this weekend. Loved him!
What a special memory you found, Ann.
That Valentine heart filled my eyes with tears. It made me think of my own Grandma. She also taught me how to bake, cook, sew, etc. We were blessed girls, were we not?
Have fun finding more treasures in your basement.
Hugs to you.

Isn't it wonderful to come across treasures like your valentine from your grandma. It takes me so long to go through "put away" items that have been stored for years. I always veer off down memory lane.
Honey that is what basements are for? pilling up treasures, I have a room in basement with just a path in the middle, I'm selling things as I get to them. I am down to material and few more dishes and lots of seasonal clothes
I have great memories of my grandma too. I wasn't the only girl, there were 7 girl and 2 boy cousins, and after she passed, we all were talking and we all realized that she told each of us that we each were her favorite and not to tell the others so their feelings wouldn't be hurt! For many years, we each thought we were the favorite! :)
