Sorry, no posting for awhile!
I worked 3 12 hr days in a row in order to go out of town
with my girlfriends.
Work has been long and hard lately so we were so happy
to hit the road for some shopping.
Our favorite thing is to follow old Route 40 from
St. Louis to my hometown Greenup and stop
and the many antique stores along the way.
We stop first in Pocahontas IL for a
wonderful breakfast.
of course we were on the hunt for Pyrex
found this rare lime green square dot
Our girlfriend already had this one!
wait...there is more! I picked up that tiny yellow Pyrex dish
could it be a sample size? I have never seen a casserole that small.
after 100 miles of antiquing we made it to 1515 and crashed!
PJ time
Revived!
Breakfast down the street at South Side Cafe
Ready to go!
Headed to Arcola/Arthur/Tuscola
text message and a picture back home to our
friend looking for a roll top Hoosier cabinet.
No visit to Arcola IL is complete
without a trip to see Dodger
He loves to have you throw the ball!
The twins met up with us here.
I could not wait to take the girls here.
The place is amazing.
Homemade foods, bulk baking supplies etc!
They bought pies, bacon, herbs, dip mixes,
noodles, snacks, you name it
aisle after aisle
Dinner out with the twins
Susan, me and Patty
to the twins house to try out their
aperitif glasses I got them for Christmas
Some lemoncello!

That bulk baking place looks like a tourist destination for Paula Deen or any baker! Holy Smokes!
Looks like you had a fun girls weekend of shopping. I love the shop with Dodger and the great selection of Pyrex.
"Pocahontas" got me feeling a little sentimental. My husband's grandparents used to live in Mattoon (near Effingham, IL). When the kids were little, our son was a baby, we were driving there, and either my husband or I said "Pocahontas" as we drove by the highway sign. For some reason the word "Pocahontas" startled and woke up our sleeping baby and he screamed and cried almost all of the way from Pocahontas to Effingham. We stopped somewhere in between and he would not be comforted. So "Pocahontas" has always had a special meaning to us. We never did figure out what all of the fuss was about.
We all need a girl's time out. Glad you had a good time. There is a little antique store here in Ault with a nice collection of pyrex. I can't help but think of you when I stop in. Our little town is known for it's antique stores. Right now we have 5 all in one block--good stuff. Have a good week.
I an so glad that you were able to have a little fun time with some girls! Everyone needs to do that once in a while. Looks like you gals had a ball! xo Diana
The yellow dish is the smaller version of the hostess dish - there is also a larger one - the small one is a great size, I use it all the time.
Looks like you all had such a fun time!!
Ann,
More of us should take your cue and make a "Girls Time" with friends!!! I adore that you all go together!!!Something tells me the true treasure is in your time spent together!!!
An upcoming Road Trip is scheduled for later this week!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Hearing your adventure makes me want to take an antiquing trip! What fun you girls must have had!!!
A girls weekend, shopping, and Pyrex equals one good time!
I can only imagine all the laughs you had! What a well deserved break. Nothing more fun than poking around shops with friends! (Unless it's picnics under trees! ;0) )
you all had so much fun, I just love a trip like that
I gave all my pyrex to my youngest daughter, it filled her cabinet in her dining room
never heard of beachy's , is it like trader jo's?
I wanna shop with you & the twins & girlfriends LOL
There is nothing, NOTHING better than a road trip involving antiquing and good eating! Looks like you gals had a great time!
