"Poor People Have Poor Ways"

I can remember my Mom saying that...

Well, as you know there seems to be no or little money in the budget for flowers this year.
I hate to say how much I normally spend.
The twins got me a hanging basket and another beautiful basket for 1515, i brought home.
Mr. also took all the ferns, geraniums  and hanging geraniums to work over the winter. Thank goodness, it has saved us a bundle.
Here is something i have had for a long time.........
points!
From the local nursery, I had them in my purses, desk drawers everywhere.
I thought...lets cash them in this year!

I added and added....I had over 750 points! yippee!
enough to fill up part of the back seat.

I was so happy, they had a Sara Bernhardt peony. I lost mine when they had to dig up our yard for the water main break.
They also had a yellow peony. I have been wanting one for a long time, but it seemed they were always expensive.
Also replacing the hollyhocks and Shasta daisy I lost too.
I am so grateful they have the program for frequent buyers!

It is to fix this mess

one poor hosta and weeds...gone is the peony and I still need to replace my Mary Rose, David Austin rose.
The area use to look like this............

It will take a few years to look like this again.

I am grateful for other things coming up unexpectedly
All my dahlia's! and they are huge, guess I am glad I did not dig them up.

I would say this is a proven winner!! It came back in a window box!
Saved me $3!

I have some marigolds and  alysums that came back to.

So this is definitely a Thrifty Post!
It was all free!!

Good for you saving points for flowers. Can you get cuttings of plants from your kind neighbors?

I would say that you hit the jack pot. Usually those rewards don't carry over to the new season. Hope your Mother's Day is wonderful.

The nursery where I shop offers 10% back for each dollar spent and it often sends out $10 coupons for each $50 spent. I earned big bucks back for next month with my purchases this month! LOL How fortunate you were to have wintered over many of your plants. I am such a novice gardener and will have lots to do in our backyard this year. We had it completely re-landscaped in the fall. You can see our project HERE. Hope all your new plants do well!

Hi Ann! I feel ya girl- I have tried in the past to save money by buying seeds... only to have a big box of them that finally got stuck in the rain when I carelessly left them on the porch. Funny thing happened- they started to sprout so I finally stopped procrastinating and planted them and had pretty flowers! great that you could redeem those points! You can divide up your hosta too and make a few more.
Happy MD!
Sparkly Hugs,
Tobi and the Pixies!

Woo hoo! what a great system! Looks like you're all set! Love the new deck. That dent from your hailstorm was pretty impressive. I could not believe the size of that melting hail!

Well you got a tone of flowers for your "money"! I love the Sarah Bernhardts. I'm so happy that some of your other flowers have popped up too. It doesn't get thriftier than that!
