Vintage Gardening Book Collection

Today I am joining the
Collections

I must admit, I collect alot of different things.
postcards, pitchers with pink roses, pottery,
depression ware, jadeite, kitchen ware,
silver, vintage Christmas.
ohhhh...and a lot more I
will not confess to!

And so, as the New Year arrives and the Holidays
are over my mind turns to Spring.
What will my garden be like this year?

Let's go out to the cottage and
check out my Vintage Gardening Books
for inspiration.

books from the 1900's to present day

general gardening
some are newer
some came from trips overseas
Some are specific to roses, iris, hydrangeas, delphiniums

even a book on tools of the trade

stacked up on an old chippy green bench

pull up a chair
and
I will turn on the fireplace and we will do some
"spring dreaming"

Thanks for joining me to look
at my collection.

  2. Love these books Ann. I read so many gardening books and I have a few from the 50's and 60's but none terribly old. I have that Tool Book too and really like it.

  3. Ann!

This little garden reading nook is perfection!

I would love to come by and take a look at your vintage gardening book collection while enjoying a little fireside warmth.

I wish I could say I am dreaming about spring, but we are in fact having our first really cold and extremely windy blustery winter day here. (My fireplace is howling as I type!)

Love this room and the bead board floor and the sweet touches.

    Thanks for linking up!
    You are the best!

  4. I like the idea of vintage gardening books, and you have the perfect, cozy spot to sit and read to enjoy these. I imagine there is much good information to be gleaned from the pages of these books. Love your vintage tools as well. I have a few that I still like to use.
    Happy New Year! ~ Sarah

  8. You can collect ANYTHING you want Ann. As long as it's passed down to another generation it's all good.
BTW... do you have someone that would take over 1515 at some point? Keep up the lovely tradition that you have created with your hubby? I sure hope so.
LOVE your gardening collection, but I adore the space you put them in even more.
Happy New Year day my friend.

  10. You do have a great collection gardening books, so you should be well inspired to get started--planning at least. Can we start yet?

  11. Love you room and the books stacked on the green bench. So cozy with the floral print chair to snuggle in. I was thinking I don't remember seeing many vintage gardening books in my old book hunts. Lots of cook books, but not many vintage gardening books. The Victory Garden one is especially nice. Happy New Year. Spring is on the way...eventually.

  33. You have some really wonderful old books! My Mom just started a pinterest board of beautiful old artsy book covers. You would probably like it.

I think we will all reach or get close to our 366 goal without too much trouble. I think our basements hold a lot more than we think. I have one blogging friend who just went around her house this month and has already come up with over 400 things and says she can come up with another 366 this year. WOW, there's an inspiration!
