Vintage Iron Bench

Thought I would share with you my Grandmother's bench I inherited. I have been using it and the foot stool this week while I have been cleaning.

The bench still has the original cover on it, it is Damask and I can't bring myself to replace it. The bench always sat in the bathroom and had a copy of the Readers Digest and the Upper Room on it.

Beautiful iron scroll work on the sides. The foot stool is also iron with similar feet but I don't think they are a matching set. I like the two together.

I got the bench the same time I bought my house years ago. I wondered where to put it and it has always sat on the landing of my staircase.

What a beautiful share. I love your Grandmother's bench. It is so wonderful to have that beautiful memory of where it sat, and what she kept on it.

I love the two together on the landing. It just speaks of LOVE. You couldn't have chosen a happier place to set it.

Many thanks for sharing with me this evening. I so enjoyed your share here at A Sentimental Life this evening.

Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  4. My mother kept an old Amish tallow bench with a cane seat on our landing when I was growing up. Now I have that precious piece of furniture with all of it little people painted on it. I love you iron bench and footstool, too. It is such fun to place something like these on landings where you see them each and every day, day after day. A lovely post. Happy New Year,

  11. I like it "as is" too. The ironwork reminds me of the sides of an antique sewing machine table.

  19. Great bench. My mother used to have one similar to that that I used to stub my toe on all the time. And she had it at the bottom of our steps too! Thanks for sharing.
