Pink Rose Pitcher

Happy Pink Saturday! Thought I would share with you a pink rose pitcher that belonged to my Grandmother. She has several of them, this one is somewhat smaller but still about 12 inches tall. It always sat in her China Cabinet. It sits in the same cabinet in my house today but I brought it out to do a new vignette.

The marking on the back "Sevres" which is French porcelain. Although I have not been able to figure out the date from the mark?

The Pitcher is hanging out on top of my curio cabinet for Valentine Day.

Vintage Iron Bench

Thought I would share with you my Grandmother's bench I inherited. I have been using it and the foot stool this week while I have been cleaning.

The bench still has the original cover on it, it is Damask and I can't bring myself to replace it. The bench always sat in the bathroom and had a copy of the Readers Digest and the Upper Room on it.

Beautiful iron scroll work on the sides. The foot stool is also iron with similar feet but I don't think they are a matching set. I like the two together.

I got the bench the same time I bought my house years ago. I wondered where to put it and it has always sat on the landing of my staircase.

Garden Gate Winter

We had snow again last night not as much as they thought. But Heidi insisted I go outside with her this morning, she wanted to play.....the puppy in her 11 yr old body was coming out, she was running and jumping all over the place!

Come on Mom!! She was even barking at me!

I always enjoy the snow, but before you know it there will be birds singing, sun shining and a cool spring breeze and I will have to sit and relax and enjoy it.

Stay warm and just sit back and enjoy the winter garden.

A Clean Slate

I spent yesterday cleaning my living room, ceiling to floor. I thought if I had to move the furniture back from where the tree was, then everything was getting cleaned and moved. I even emptied about my curio cabinets and cleaned everything in them. And the drawers! The things I shove in there and the things I find!

Here is one my favorite all time purchases, my beautiful oak coffee table. I have never seen another one like it.

As you see there is nothing on it, a clean slate. I will be deciding today what to put on it.

But I love the details

The leaf detail of the handle...just love it!

Here is the cabinet I got cleaned and started putting some Valentine things out.

This time of year I like to cover some of my tables with linen. My side table I cover with a small tablecloth I purchased for my Mom when I was in Paris. Clean, crisp, white and a cleaner look. This is my view from where I blog.

Well, now that I have enjoyed my clean living room, it is time to get to the kitchen and dining room, some more laundry and grocery shopping. It never seems to get all done! We are in for snow tonight and I have to be at work at 5:15 so it looks like I will be getting up at 3:30 instead of 4 to drag myself thru the snow!

A Very Vintage Valentine

When I saw that Very Merry Vintage Style was going to have a Valentine Card Party, I knew what card I needed to post.

This card belonged to my Great Grandfather James, whom received this when he was young, he was born in 1853.....so I am thinking it is from the 1860's.

The inside greeting

Luckily my Grandmother had written this note and put it inside the card. I found the card in my Grandfather's WWI army trunk when we were cleaning out 1515 in the 1970's. I display it proudly every Valentine Day.

Of course James found his true love and married her on Christmas Day 1883
